The Office of Graduate and Professional Education's graduate studies staff works with faculty and administrative staff in all seven colleges to support the recruitment, retention, professional development and career preparation of ~4,000 students in ~ 240 graduate degree and certificate programs.

Under the general supervision of the office's administrative coordinator, this position has primary responsibility for front desk operations; provides administrative support for diversity recruitment and retention programming as well as special project work for the associate vice provost; and is responsible for coordination of routine office operations such as credit card reconciliation, repair and maintenance scheduling, office equipment/supply purchases.

MAJOR RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Greets and directs students and visitors; answer phones and takes messages; answers questions requiring knowledge of graduate students' degree and work experience applications as well as general University of Delaware information.
  • Reviews, routes and prioritizes mail.
  • Coordinates event support for diversity recruitment and retention programming and assists as needed with all major OGPE events, e.g., Doctoral Hooding Ceremony, new student orientations, and new International Teaching Assistant on-boarding and summer programming.
  • Assists the associate vice provost with special project work as needed.
  • Processes student theses through plagiarism detection software.
  • Reviews, verifies and allocates charges for UD credit cardholders' accounts
  • Assists the OGPE Communications manager and associate vice provost with routine OGPE website maintenance and online graduate catalog maintenance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED and two to three years of relevant experience.
  • Positive customer service attitude is required, as is the ability to communicate and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds and to maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet search tools required; must be willing to learn new technologies.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of UDSIS (student information system) preferred.
  • Proficiency with Facebook, Linked-In, Twitter, Instagram and WordPress preferred.
  • May be required to work some evenings and weekends.
