Summary of Job Duties
The Autism Waiver Specialist serves as the regional contact for families entering the waiver program including completing all necessary adaptive assessments and developing plans of care. This position assists with data collection, federal reporting, and serves as provider interface for the program in assigned region. This position provides training and technical assistance for families, providers, and other organizations as well as provides service coordination, assisting families in identifying appropriate services from those available in the state.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • RN diploma OR bachelor's degree in nursing, special education, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • At least three years experience with families who have children with developmental disabilities

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one year of experience working with families receiving services through Medicaid Waiver Program(s)
  • At least one year of experience in providing home-based services


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Knowledge of available services and supports appropriate for children with autism
  • Ability to administer individual assessment instruments appropriate for young children with autism, such as the Vineland II and/or TABS
