Assistant Director of Business Applications

Assistant Director of Business Applications

The University of Illinois Foundation is seeking a skilled Assistant Director of Business Applications to join its information technology team. The Assistant Director will serve as a lead in the support of the University of Illinois Foundation enterprise software applications.  The successful candidate will collaborate closely with business users to devise an effective strategy for executing and delivering on business initiatives. The candidate will be required to work closely with business process owners and assist in implementing solutions across process and technology plus be responsible for ensuring that all production support issues, service requests and related projects are staffed and completed.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with clients, staff and vendors and provide technical consultation in the areas of planning, analysis, and implementation

  • Responsible for eliciting, understanding and documenting detailed, complete and accurate business functional requirements

  • Analyze business needs, develop solutions and validate deliverables with the client

  • Provide direct supervision and overall management to Business Applications team

  • Provide advice and expertise to Application Services Director on projects and issues

  • Interact with senior management, as well as with clients and vendors, and assist in project planning, analysis and implementation

  • Work with other team leads and managers to ensure that Foundation resources are appropriately assigned to all projects and tasks

  • Support the goals and objectives of the Foundation by maintaining a working knowledge of the methodologies and helping to ensure team members are maintaining this knowledge

  • Participate in professional conferences, training and user organizations relevant to their job responsibilities

  • Support production critical activities during non-business hours, as needed.May require evening or weekend hours, depending on the business cycle of the Foundation.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or other related area is required along with a minimum of five years of experience in Business Analysis or in a role supporting Advancement related operations.  Experience managing or being a member of a team responsible for managing an enterprise solution, strong analytical and problem resolving skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.  Ability to communication with all levels of the organization, strong focus on process, process improvement and quality are required.  Technical skillset that includes database design and analysis; reporting and analytics (SQL), ability to manage concurrent projects in various stages of development, experience with, or use of, an iterative, agile and/or waterfall approach to software development are required.  The successful candidate must be proficient with MS Office suite including skills in Excel, Visio, and Project.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in an Advancement role in higher education and utilizing Blackbaud CRM including Page Designer and Batch Processes desired.    Advanced technical skills with database related solutions and information management also desired.
