Summary of Duties
Under direction of the Event Manager, provides basic to intermediate-level emergency rescue and care to the ill and injured, to include assessment of illness and/or injury, management of illness/injury, preparation for transport, transfer of information, and patient care.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and three years of experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to three years. Technical or vocational degree may substitute for experience.

First Aid/CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications
At least 1 year of experience in the field of pre-hospital EMS.

Knowledge
Knowledge of emergency medical procedures.

Knowledge of on-site emergency medical protocol and procedures.

Basic understanding of stress response and methods to ensure personal well-being.

Understanding of body substance isolation.

Knowledge of bio-hazard precautions.

Knowledge of medical supplies, equipment and terminology.

Skills
Interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Skills in reassuring patients and bystanders by working in a confident, efficient manner.

Abilities
Ability to complete a rapid assessment/triage of patients.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Ability to use various types of medical diagnostic equipment.

Ability to perform standardized emergency patient care activities within established protocol.

Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Schedule
Based on events taking place at the UCCU Center. Most frequently occuring at night.
