Position:
Under direction of the Dean/Athletic Director, the Physical Education Instructor/Coach (Women's Soccer) will be responsible for teaching a variety of transfer-level and Career Technical Education (CTE) courses within the division, including Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Athletics. The instructor will have a portion of their assignment teaching soccer related courses and coaching the college's intercollegiate women's soccer team. The instructor participates as a full-time faculty member in department and campus-wide activities. The instructor may be assigned to have his/her teaching assignment in the evening and/or weekend and/or at off-campus locations.



Desirable Qualifications:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Two years as a head coach of a soccer team at the post-secondary level.
2. Two years, or equivalent, Kinesiology or Physical Education teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
3. Demonstrated experience developing curriculum and/or new programs.
4. Communicate effectively with students and colleagues. Strong ability to present material in a clear and effective manner.
5. Experience in computer based, sport-specific statistical programs.
6. Familiarity with business, industry, and the private sector of the labor market.
7. Ability to work successfully in a team environment.

8. Experience in computer assisted instruction, internet and distance learning.
9. Experience in working with culturally diverse student populations (teaching or other situations in a leadership role).
10. Evidence of current professional development via membership or certifications or post-degree coursework.
11. Experience in marketing programs and fund raising activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach a variety of Kinesiology, Physical Education and/or Athletic courses, and employ student-centered instructional methods that emphasize group cooperation and collaboration and that reflect cultural sensitivity and interdisciplinary approaches to subject matter.
2. Develop and implement a variety of effective teaching and assessment methods including the use of computers and information technology to engage student interest and support for a variety of learning styles.
3. Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of curriculum as well as assess student learning outcomes at the course and program levels.
4. Teach Physical Education in accordance with post-secondary level established course outlines.
5. Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to the course content and student learning outcomes and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
6. Hold required office hours and attend department/division meetings.
7. Develop effective online course materials, and build online learning communities that meet accessible online course requirements and Title 5 55211 Effective Contact Policy requirements.
8. Maintain and submit accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reports).
9. Coach womens soccer, or any other sport to which assigned.
10. Carry out collegial responsibilities including, but not limited to, institutional committee assignments, student recruitment, advising and retention, and participation in shared governance and campus life activities.
11. Assist in developing and monitoring program budget and expenditures.
12. Direct hourly and work study students.
13. Maintain and keep current certification in first aid and CPR/AED throughout employment.
14. Perform duties described in Board policy, the Faculty Handbook, the UFO (faculty bargaining unit) Contract, and as assigned at the Fremont and Newark campuses, and/or other designated locations.
15. Communicate and work cooperatively with colleagues (within discipline and college-wide) on matters regarding course offerings, programs, and activities that would enhance the development of the department and college.
16. Continue in related professional career development throughout employment and remain current in the field through course work, conferences, workshops and other appropriate means.
17. Coordinate departmental activities with the administration;
18. Attend Division and Department Meetings.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Masters degree in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise, or adaptive physical education

OR

bachelors degree in any of the above AND masters degree in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy OR the equivalent.
2. Certification in first aid and CPR/AED (within 2 years).

3. Commitment to community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.

Starting Salary Range:
$61,816 - $94,588

The district participates in a group health plan and offers a variety of medical plans. Dental is offered through Delta Dental (includes orthodontic coverage), Vision offered through Vision Service Plan (VSP), and Life insurance through UNUM.

Medical*: Enrollment in medical coverage through the district is optional. For those faculty that choose to enroll in one of the offered medical plans, the district currently provides an allowance of $1,000 per month to offset the cost of the medical benefits premium. The allowance will be increased to $1,200 per month effective January 1, 2018.

*Enrollment in Dental, Vision and Life insurances are mandatory.

Long-term Disability (LTD) and Employee Assistance Program (EAP): The district provides for and fully pays the premiums for long-term disability for you and EAP for you and your family.

Other employee paid benefits (optional): voluntary additional life insurance; IRC Section 125 Flexible Medical and Dependent Care spending plans; 403(B) and 457(b) Tax Shelter Annuity plans; 403(b) Roth IRA plan.

Sick Leave: One day per month, accumulating indefinitely, if unused. All other Education Code leave benefits apply.

Sabbatical Leave: After 6 consecutive years of employment with the district you will be eligible for sabbatical leave. You will receive 100% pay for one semester leave and 70% for an academic year.

Enrollment Fee Waiver: Employees and their qualified dependents receive enrollment fee waiver for courses taken at Ohlone College.

Certificated employees belong to the United Faculty of Ohlone (UFO) and are required to pay union dues.
