Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have primary responsibilities teaching in the undergraduate criminal justice program.  The candidate will teach the equivalent of a 15 hour course load per semester with two of those courses each semester (Intro to Criminal Justice, Intro to Law Enforcement, Intro to Criminal Courts, Intro to Corrections) taught in our regional campus program (Sikeston, Malden, Kennett) through Interactive Television (ITV).  Other duties include participating in committee work, public service, and professional organizations.  The candidate will also work with the regional campus directors and the department chair on an orientation and/or advising program for our regional campus students as part of his/her service requirements.  Although the position does not hold any research and scholarship expectations, the department has an active, collaborative environment where the candidate has the opportunity to engage in research.     

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree (successful completion by August 2017) in criminal justice or related field (degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
• Experience teaching criminal justice classes (2+ years of experience in a criminal justice agency a plus)
• Willingness to teach courses through distance learning (experience in teaching courses through distance learning a plus)
• Excellent communication skills
• Demonstrates commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
• Demonstrates commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
