Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Office of Annual Giving is looking for a forward leaning, collaborative, hard working Annual Giving Manager to build the University of Maryland donor pipeline. Through telethon, direct mail, e-solicitation, giving days, crowdfunding and volunteer driven loyalty programs, he/she will support annual giving efforts across campus and raise critical funding for academic programs, student scholarships and special initiatives.

The Annual Giving Manager reports to the Director of Annual Giving. They will act as a client representative to a portfolio of campus schools and colleges and provide multi-channel marketing and micro-campaign expertise. This person will build valuable campus and alumni relationships and work with unit teams and volunteers to design donor growth strategies, and create content and messaging for all marketing channels. Additionally, the Manager will rely heavily on data and analytics to identify trends and growth opportunities. He/she will also assist with goal setting, audience segmentation, annual solicitation calendar planning, budget allocation and donor stewardship.

Alumni donor participation is a campus priority at Maryland and the Office of Annual Giving has high expectations for continuing to grow the donor base. The Annual Giving Manager will play an important role in achieving the donor goal of the new Fearless Ideas campaign. Performance will be measured by the number of donors, dollars raised and other metrics, including social media that demonstrates an increased awareness about the importance of giving back to Maryland.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor's degree or higher required;

Experience:
3-5 years of relevant work experience in fields such as nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, student fundraising, digital marketing, social media and digital media promotions, or similar required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Strong knowledge of fundraising or marketing practices.
•Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, project and time management skills required.
•Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple complex projects with limited direction.
•Experience leading projects from the concept stage through implementation.
•Very strong writing experience for web and print preferred.
•Ability to work as part of a team and also be a team leader.
•Ability to analyze problems, define objectives and implement solutions.

Preferences:

Master's degree preferred.
Thorough understanding of and insight into the new media landscape including social media tools and trends, social media monitoring, and analysis.

The Office of Annual Giving is currently hiring for two Manager positions. Most of the responsibilities listed are the same, except for the specific set of programs and campus units in the portfolios. Each position will have a primary program that is different. One position will drive the industry leading crowdfunding platform, Launch UMD , and the other will kick start a new recent graduate volunteer loyalty program. Managing Launch UMD requires the ability to recruit new crowdfunding projects, orient project teams, assist roll out of marketing plans and help teams reach their goals. Additionally, creating a new recent grad loyalty program requires the ability to recruit and manage talented volunteers to represent the audience and inspire loyal giving to Maryland through social media content and event support.
