PROVOST AND EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

PROVOST AND EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Texas A&M University invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Executive Vice President.

Texas A&M University, a land-, sea-, and space-grant university, is a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU).  Located in College Station, Texas (about 90 miles from Houston and 90 miles from Austin), Texas A&M's main campus is home to over 65,000 students distributed across locations in Texas and as far as Doha, Qatar. The university has more than 436,000 former students, over 3,500 faculty, and an endowment of almost $5 billion.

Annual research expenditures at Texas A&M totaled more than $866.6 million in fiscal year 2015, ranking Texas A&M 16th overall in the National Science Foundation's latest Higher Education Research and Development survey.

Reporting to the President, the Provost and Executive Vice President is the chief academic officer of the university and is responsible for all aspects of the university's academic mission. The Provost’s office also serves as a communication link with external constituencies, including the Board of Regents, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Texas Legislature, various accrediting agencies, and many others.

The selected candidate will be an accomplished scholar who possesses an earned terminal degree and appropriate credentials to be tenured in one of the university’s academic departments.  The next Provost will have demonstrated successful academic administrative experience and a leadership style that is collaborative, transparent, and inclusive.  The search committee seeks individuals having exemplary interpersonal and communication skills and an appreciation of the multiple missions of a major public research university.

While applications and nominations will be accepted until a new Provost and Executive Vice President is selected, interested parties are encouraged to submit their materials to our consultant at the address below by February 15, 2017 to assure optimal consideration. Applications should include a detailed resume, a statement summarizing the applicant's personal vision and relevant leadership experience. All candidate information will be held in strict confidence until the final stage of the search, at which time the express permission of finalists will be obtained before making their candidacy public.
