STUDENT SERVICES SPECIALIST - CONTRIBUTING

Job Description: The Administrative Adviser / WZMB serves as ECU Student Media's official FCC Chief Operating Officer, responsible for keeping WZMB compliant with all FCC rules and regulations, staying updated on those rules and regulations and being aware when changes occur. The Administrative Adviser / WZMB is charged with monitoring the radio station for dead air and/or any FCC violations and faithfully updating and maintaining the Public File as mandated by law.

The Administrative Adviser / WZMB develops, negotiates, reviews and executes contractual agreements/grants with vendors, in consultation with the Media Adviser and Director of Student Media. The Administrative Adviser works with the engineer to purchase, maintain and repair all equipment needed to keep the radio station operating on the air in an effective, efficient manner.

The Administrative Adviser / WZMB provides oversight of the annual budget and develops cost projections for programs and staffing to aid with budget development. This position is also responsible for maintaining and balancing the WZMB budget.

In the area of advisement and training, the Administrative Adviser is a resource for the students in the management, development and operation of WZMB. The Administrative Adviser coordinates the WZMB Radio Corp Training Program and works with the Director of Student Media and Media Adviser to provide additional educational opportunities for students.

Administrative functions include handling all public correspondence, assisting customers and students and maintaining a functioning office environment. That includes but is not limited to holding regular office hours, processing paperwork (payroll, travel, etc.), ordering supplies and maintaining personnel records.

Work performed requires a great deal of accuracy and must disseminate information about policies, procedures, and information about programs and events being presented. Must be accurate in advice given to the WZMB staff, ensure that contracted work is error free, be knowledgeable of emerging trends and issues concerning campus radio and ensure all activities are in accordance with various codes of ethics and professional organizations in dealing with student activities.

The Administrative Adviser / WZMB must work a flexible schedule and report directly to the Director of Student Media. General hours are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position may be required to handle additional duties as required by the Director.


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Special Instructions to Applicants: This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.
Salary Grade Equivalent: 65 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
