MiraCosta Community College District in coastal, north San Diego County, California, invites applications for the position of Dean, Admissions and Student Support. The position is open until filled. For first consideration, applications should be submitted by Wednesday, December 14, 2016. Interviews are expected to be conducted in February 2017. The position will begin in February or March 2017 upon approval by the Board of Trustees.

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Student Services, the Dean of Admissions and Student Support is responsible for Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Institute for International Perspectives, School Relations and Diversity Outreach, Testing Services, and Veterans Services functions at all district locations.

This dean provides leadership, vision, direction and administrative guidance in areas of assigned responsibility, and demonstrates the ability to derive consensus and work collaboratively and collegially with internal and external constituents. The dean oversees staffing, program development and assessment, faculty and staff evaluations, annual reporting to the district and state, and provides general leadership to the assigned programs and services in student services. This dean works in close cooperation with the other student services and instructional deans.

Representative Duties:
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

1. Provide comprehensive leadership, management and vision to assigned areas of responsibility.

2. Lead the planning, budgeting, program development, implementation, and assessment of the district's Student Support and Success Program (SSSP) Plan. (E)

3. Supervise staff members and evaluate their performance. Interview and recommend for hire classified and academic personnel within the areas of responsibility. (E)

4. Update and maintain college policies and procedures to ensure compliance with FERPA, Title V and Education Code for responsible areas; serve as FERPA Officer. (E)

5. Propose and develop research studies related to student success; analyze and apply data to refine or change business practices to support students.

6. Act as a problem solver when students, prospective students, or staff have complaints or concerns about services. (E)

7. Coordinate division efforts relative to catalog and course schedule preparation and revision. (E)

8. Act as an intra-division and inter-division liaison where appropriate.

9. Assist in division long- and short-range planning efforts. Plan and carry out systematic evaluation of services by students and other clientele. Coordinate regular reviews of all programs for which responsible. (E)

10. Supervise the preparation, production, and distribution of promotional materials for area of responsibility.

12. Hold membership and participate in appropriate professional organizations.

13. Coordinate technology solutions with the Academic Information Services for the Student Services Division.

14. Oversee budgets and monitor payroll for area of responsibility. (E)

15. Serve on or chair committees as assigned by Vice President, Student Services and Administrative Council.

16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Type of Benefits:
COMPENSATION AND FRINGE BENEFITS: Compensation for the dean is based on the salary schedule for academic administrators and will not be less than $145,258 per year. MiraCosta College offers a comprehensive package of benefits which includes employer-paid medical, dental, and vision plans for employee and dependents; $100,000 employee life insurance; and other optional coverages. Academic administrators are usually covered under the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS).

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possession of a master's degree from an accredited institution;* AND

2. One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the dean's administrative assignment; AND

3. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the cultural, developmental, socioeconomic, ethnic, disability, and academic diversity of community college students, faculty, and staff.

*All degrees and units used to satisfy the minimum qualifications must be from postsecondary institutions accredited by an accreditation agency recognized by either the U.S. Department of Education or the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. If your degree/coursework is from a college or university outside of the United States, you must submit a detailed evaluation from a professional evaluation agency. Desirable Qualifications:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Previous administrative experience in student services, specifically in higher education. 2. Directly related experience in one of the areas of responsibility. 3. Proven record in data-driven decision-making.

Licenses and Other Requirements:LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the district's vehicle insurance program.
