Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Communications Coordinator provides media relations support to the Chief Communications Officer ( CCO ) and the University Communications Office staff, maintaining a high level confidentiality as required. He/she makes efficient use of resources to achieve departmental goals to establish and maintain strong working relationships with departmental personnel, external departments and the media. This individual reacts appropriately to unexpected situations and resolves problems that arise in an effective manner.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring trade publications; tracking campus media metrics; conducting research and audits of stories and background information; preparing and formatting presentations; assisting with acquiring experts for news stories; coordinating logistics for reporters and film crews; coordinating events and initiatives for the Office of University Communications; managing vendor relationships; serving as the campus liaison for on-campus filming; and reviewing and reconciling monthly financial reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in communications, media or other related environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Customer-service oriented and excellent interpersonal skills

The salary range for this position is $53,000s to $ 66,000s.
