Faculty Position - Environmental Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a continuing-track faculty position in Environmental Engineering at the assistant professor level starting fall semester of 2017. The primary responsibility for this position is teaching environmental engineering courses, including freshmen-level introductory courses, intermediate-level required courses, and upper level technical electives. Additionally, the successful candidate will advise undergraduate students, serve as faculty advisor to student organizations, contribute to program efforts related to ABET accreditation, and assume an increased responsibility for ABET accreditation over time. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage with the engineering education community within the College of Engineering through educational initiatives and method assessments.

The successful applicant will possess comprehensive knowledge in environmental engineering and science acquired through a combination of formal education and practical experience. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline. The Department is especially interested in candidates who have extensive practical experience and have demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (www.ce.udel.edu) consists of 27 faculty members, 550 undergraduate students, and 100+ graduate students. The Department offers two undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Environmental Engineering. Both degrees are accredited by ABET. The programs are designed to produce graduates with a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals enabling them to lead a successful career in industry, government and/or obtain an advanced degree and to contribute to engineering knowledge, the profession, and the community.
