Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations


Position Summary

The Department of Political Science and International Relations at SUNY Geneseo invites applicants for a tenure-track, assistant professor position, to begin August of 2017. Duties of the position include:
• Teach undergraduate courses in political science, including U.S. Foreign Policy, Politics of the Middle East, Social Science Research Methods, and upper division courses in comparative politics or international politics.
• Academic advising and mentoring of students.
• Establish a program of research and publication in Political Science.
• Service to college, community and discipline.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Political Science conferred by the time of appointment in August 2017.
• Expertise in U.S. foreign policy, politics of the Middle East, and social science research methods.
• Evidence of preparation to teach rigorous undergraduate courses in political science.
• Potential for scholarly contributions in political science.

Preferred Qualifications

• Evidence of preparation to teach upper-division course(s) in comparative politics or international politics.

Applicants should be prepared to upload a cover letter, a CV, and an additional document containing sample syllabi and summary teaching evaluations (as Other Document). The cover letter should address teaching philosophy and interests and plans for establishing a research program. In addition, applicants should be prepared to supply contact information (email address) for three references.
