The J. Willard Marriott Library seeks an energetic, innovative, and dynamic professional for the position of Graduate and Undergraduate Services Librarian. This is an excellent opportunity to work with collaborative and enthusiastic colleagues who are dedicated to information literacy and student engagement across disciplines and campus units. Working with all team members in Graduate & Undergraduate Services ( GUS ) and reporting to the department head, the successful candidate will:
- Participate in outreach and campus engagement that expands connections and builds
partnerships.
- Provide research and technology assistance in person at the Knowledge Commons and online through chat and email.
- Participate in teaching that includes first-year programs and other targeted courses in the campus curriculum.
- Participate as a member of the College and Interdisciplinary Teams as a library liaison to at least two academic departments in the sciences or engineering.
- Be professionally active through participation in appropriate professional societies and through research and publication.

While there is a focus in this department on student services, all faculty librarians serve the needs of University faculty, staff, and students along with members of the local community. Work across organizational lines is encouraged to support and strengthen all services in the Marriott Library.

Required qualifications:
- ALA -accredited MLS / MLIS OR the equivalent combination of a relevant advanced degree and experience working in an academic library.
- A degree or significant coursework in the sciences or engineering OR equivalent experience working with science or engineering departments, faculty, and students.
- Demonstrated ability to teach information literacy to groups and individuals.
- Ability to work creatively and effectively both as a team member and independently.
- Ability to be proactive, flexible, and collaborative in order to accomplish departmental, library, and institutional goals.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse educational and professional environment and demonstration of the ability to work with a diverse population.
- Capacity to thrive in the fast-paced, future-oriented environment of a research institution and to respond effectively to changing needs and priorities.
- Passion for service to the profession and academia as well as interest in developing a scholarly profile.
- Knowledge of and engagement with the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy. (http://www.ala.org/acrl/standards/ilframework)
- Successful completion of a criminal background check, as required by Utah state law. (http://www.regulations.utah.edu/humanResources/5-130.html)

Desired qualifications:
- Reading, writing, or speaking skills in a second language.
- Additional advanced degree(s), especially in the sciences or engineering.
- Experience in public services in an academic library.
- Knowledge of & experience with educational technologies.

Compensation: $53,000 dependent on qualifications, plus excellent benefits including a 14.2% retirement contribution to TIAA - CREF /Fidelity, medical and dental coverage, and generous paid sick and vacation time.
