This is a great opportunity to join a collegial academic environment and work in a children's hospital ranked as one of the best in the US. The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine is recruiting a Pediatric Cardiologist with subspecialty training and an interest in Pediatric Electrophysiology. The pediatric cardiologist's clinical focus will be in electrophysiology, including invasive EP studies, medical management of children and adult congenital patients with arrhythmias (including an inherited arrhythmia clinic), pacemaker and ICD device management, exercise testing, interpretation of Holters and event monitors, and cardioversions. There will also be some general pediatric cardiology clinical responsibilities, including rotating on the inpatient service and rotating in covering night and weekend call with other cardiology division members. Clinical responsibilities may include seeing patients in an outreach clinic setting. In addition to clinical service, there is both opportunity and expectation for academic work, including education, investigation/research and administration, as well as advocacy.

The Pediatric Cardiologist will join a division of 29 faculty with an EP team of 3 pediatric electrophysiologists, a dedicated physician's assistant, a dedicated nurse coordinator, a dedicated device specialist, and staff for ECG , Holter and event monitor reporting. The Heart Center receives referrals from Utah and the surrounding states and 3 surgeons perform approximately 500 surgeries per year with outstanding outcomes. Most clinical services are delivered at Primary Children's Hospital which includes a 16-bed dedicated cardiac ICU , 2 dedicated cath labs (one exclusively designed for EP), and a new ambulatory wing which houses all of our outpatient services as well as a new exercise lab. Division members also see patients at a number of outreach sites. The division has a busy arrhythmia service (over 210 invasive cases and over 1200 device interrogations in 2015), working closely with other pediatric cardiologists, adult congenital cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac intensivists, and cardiac anesthesiologists to coordinate care.

The division has a very active research program, and there are tremendous opportunities to participate in research, with ongoing basic science, translational, and clinical research studies within EP as well as across the Division, Department, and School of Medicine. The Division is a founding and active member of both the Pediatric Heart Network ( PHN ) and the Cardiac Development Consortium, and is also a member of the Pediatric Cardiac Genomics Consortium ( PCGC ) of the NHLBI / NIH . There is also active, NIH funded investigation into EP causes of Sudden Death in the Young. Scholarly contributions are a priority of the Division, and there will be protected time for research.

Qualified candidates must have an M.D. or D.O. degree; be Board Qualified/Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology and should have subspecialty training and a major interest in Pediatric Electrophysiology.
Qualified candidates must also have a strong clinical background in all areas of pediatric cardiology with expertise in pediatric EP, including medical management of inpatients and outpatients with arrhythmias, exercise testing, interpretation of Holters, event monitors, and cardiac device interrogations, cardioversions, and invasive electrophysiology studies. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
