Position/Job Summary

The Department of Physical Therapy at Ithaca College invites nominations and applications for a tenure eligible faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor starting in the 2017-2018 academic year. We are seeking applicants with a strong background in teaching and scholarship with a preference for those with experience in neuroscience in a physical therapy related field. Other areas of expertise may be considered. The department is committed to increasing the diversity of the faculty to broaden the academic experience for its students. Candidates who can contribute to that goal are encouraged to apply. The selected applicant will join a dynamic, collaborative department and enhance the learning opportunities in a six-year DPT curriculum that provides a seamless undergraduate to graduate education.

Position/Job Qualifications

An academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc) is required. Candidates who are ABD with completion by August 1, 2017 may be considered with a verifiable timeline detailing the path toward degree completion/dissertation. Candidates must have a well defined research agenda and evidence of graduate level teaching. Preference will be given to those with an entry level degree in physical therapy.

Department description

Ithaca's physical therapy program is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the country. To meet the growing responsibilities and demands of the physical therapy profession, we offer a six-year doctorate program. This curriculum results in a bachelor's degree in clinical health studies and a professional doctorate in physical therapy. There are 19 core faculty with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a variety of clinical areas. By the end of our program, students are prepared for the clinical, managerial, and educational roles of a physical therapy practitioner.
