Summary of Position Provide Tutoring, SLA and ASC support to students at Ferris State University.
Hired for Academic Year only. Hours not to exceed 20 per week.
Must be available Monday - Friday.

Required Education Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biotechnology or Mathematics Education.
Required Work Experience One or more years of experience as a tutor, SLA tutor or SLA facilitator.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered 1. Strong GPA , 3.0 or higher.
2. Experience using TutorTrac software system.
3. Experience as an SLA Facilitator.

Duties 1. Provide one-on-one and/or small group tutoring in Mathematics and Sciences in the Academic Support Center.
2. Provide study skills assessment and instruction to students by appointment.
3. Communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty and visitors.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact collegially with peers.
5 Attend mandatory tutor training, workshops and staff meetings as required.
5. Tutor students in content areas by appointment and/or on a walk-in basis.
6. Participate in outreach to high-need courses: Math, Physics and Chemistry.
7. Enter tutoring appointments and outcomes into stats database.
8. Be familiar with Center computer software programs and assist tutors and students with using programs.
9. Assist with ASC front desk operations as needed.
10. Complete projects as requested by Supervisor.
11. Assist in the development of tutoring materials and technologies.
12. Additional duties may be assigned.

Duties 1. Assist in recruiting tutor for the NTI (No Tutor Identified) courses.
2. Make presentations to classes and orientation groups on academic topics of interest and Support Center services.
3. Provide tutoring on-line or by other technologies when necessary.
