SUMMARY

Provides direct rehab care in physical therapy to residents upon physician referral in accordance with all laws, regulations, and standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
  • Liaison to patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs
  • Possess the ability to make independent decisions, using good reasoning skills and judgement when circumstances warrant such action
  • Knowledgeable of rehab practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing rehab functions in the long-term care facility
  • Possess willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel
  • Ability to implement the company policies, programs, goals, objectives including theprocedures of the Rehab department
  • Ability to assist in the evacuation of patients
  • Exercise good body mechanics at all times
  • Ability to follow physical therapy treatment plans for patients
  • Ability to establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals
  • Ability to oversee and evaluate care given by PTAs and Rehab Aides and PT and PTA students
  • Ability to document therapy evaluations and treatments accurately and timely
  • Ability to utilize therapy software and equipment appropriately and accurately
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Ability to communicate and function in an interdisciplinary team

Directly supervises employee(s). Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the

organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills

Education and/or Experience

  • Master's or Doctorate Preferred, Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited program in physical therapy, BSPT, MSPT, or DPT (2003 or later must have MSPT or DPT)
  • One year's experience in long-term care or related setting preferred
  • Certified Clinical Instructor preferred


Computer Skills

PC proficient (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must be currently registered/licensed in applicable state. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment
  • Must have CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment
