ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

Job Description: The Department of Political Science at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 13, 2018. The successful candidate will become one of the core faculty for the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration program and will be expected to teach at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in the classroom and online.

The Department is composed of 14 full-time faculty. It offers BS and BA degrees in political science and minors in public administration, comparative politics/international relations, leadership studies, and security studies at the undergraduate level. It is also home to the multidisciplinary studies majors in security studies and international studies. At the graduate level, it offers a NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration degree, a Master of Science in Security Studies and certificates in public management and security studies. It emphasizes excellent teaching, quality research, and a tradition of service to the community, the university, and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Public Administration, Political Science, or a related field such as Public Policy or in a policy issue area such as environmental, health, or national security, is required. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Teaching experience is required. Candidates must demonstrate potential for external funding and scholarly research productivity, excellent teaching, and service to the university, community, and profession.
