Summary of Job Duties
The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for graphic design, writing, and coordinating the distribution of the divisional blog, news releases, articles, and other publications.
This position designs and lays out publications, coordinates printing activities, and edits articles written by others for inclusion in blogs, newsletters, or other publications; researches, prepares, and edits articles, press releases, public notices, brochures, speeches, and fact sheets, and supervises student graphic designers working part-time for the Division of Student Affairs; establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with staff in Student Affairs and other areas of the University.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Performs other duties as assigned.

- The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, or a related area
- At least two years of experience in journalistic activities or a related area

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in graphic design or art with a design emphasis
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Adobe Premiere, and After Effects
- Experience working in the CMS known as OmniUpdate
- Experience with DSLR cameras in both photography and video
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of design and layout techniques
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of journalism
- Superb design and communication skills with the ability to adapt one story for separate audiences, across multiple platforms
- Ability to work collaboratively, solve problems and meet deadlines
- Ability to research, organize, and disseminate information
- Ability to design, layout, and edit news articles and other publications
- Ability to maintain files
- Ability to write descriptive and informative narratives
- Ability to use computers to enter data and publish graphic materials
