ARTIST TEACHER OF VOICE

Job Description: East Carolina University School of Music seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track position in the vocal studies department to teach applied voice (tenor preferred). Other duties may include teaching courses in the vocal studies curriculum according to expertise. Other appropriate research/creative activities and service to the university, community and profession are expected.

The School of Music, in the College of Fine Arts and Communication, has an enrollment of over 300 music majors and minors with over 50 faculty and staff. The Bachelor of Music Education degree is offered as well as the Bachelor of Music with concentrations in music therapy, performance, or theory-composition. In addition, the School offers a music minor at the undergraduate level. The Master of Music is offered in music education, pedagogy, performance, theory-composition, and a graduate certificate in Advanced Performance Studies. The School is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.

East Carolina University, the third largest institution in the University of North Carolina System, is a research doctoral intensive university with an enrollment of over 28,000 students. The University is located in Greenville, North Carolina, a progressive and growing city of over 90,000 that serves as the cultural and economic center of North Carolina's historic Coastal Plain. Greenville is within easy driving distance of the Atlantic coast and the Research Triangle area of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill; as well as Richmond, Virginia and Washington, D.C.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree required. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire. Evidence of success as a performing artist and applied teacher at the collegiate level required. Keyboard competence also required.
A demonstrated and ongoing commitment to teaching and performing at the highest level is required.
