The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences within the West Virginia University School of Public Health is seeking applicants for a full-time tenure or non-tenure track assistant professor position. Successful candidates will have clear experience related to promoting children’s health in schools and the clinical preparation of K-12 teachers.  Our search goals include identifying a candidate able to: (1) coordinate and teach courses associated with the student supervised field experience and student teaching components of our teacher preparation program, (2) work with a team to maintain program accreditation (NCATE/CAEP/SPA), and (3) contribute to research and service in a vibrant research department. An overview of our academic programs and our research interests can be found at the following websites: http://publichealth.hsc.wvu.edu/academics/online-programs/ms-in-school-health-education/ and http://publichealth.hsc.wvu.edu/departments/sbhs/.

At a minimum, successful candidates will have: (1) a terminal degree in public health, health education/promotion, human development, and/or education prior to their appointment, (2) a minimum of two years experience working with a university-level teacher preparation program including program improvement responsibilities, (3) a minimum of three years of teaching experience in K-12 public schools, (4) a current teaching certification in health, preferably in West Virginia, and (5) a minimum of two years of NCATE/CAEP/SPA program accreditation experience.  Candidates must also demonstrate evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. To be considered for a tenure-track position, candidates must demonstrate a record of peer-reviewed research and the potential to apply for, or record of, external funding in areas associated with promoting children’s health in schools.  To be considered for a non-tenure track position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to participate in some scholarly activity.  The position comes with a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
