SCIENTIST


Position Summary:
The successful candidate must have technical and interpersonal skills to communicate with other scientists and administrators nationally and internationally. Experience in oral presentations, writing reports, proposals and technical publications are required. Must be fluent in English. Familiarity with Tier 1 select agent regulation compliance requirements, state and federal organizations, and universities and the ability to attract extramural funding from grant agencies and industry is expected.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Ph.D. in microbiology, food science or closely related field

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
*5 years' experience in food microbiology and safety research and hazard assessments required; 8-10 years' experience preferred
*Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Select Agent approval
*Must be able to pass and maintain annual Tier 1 Select Agent Authorization for access
*Must have extensive and relevant experience with Clostridium botulinum and with microbial challenge studies for
processing and formulation control in foods
*Authored or co-authored at least 5 articles in refereed journals, post degree; or authored or co-authored one major scholarly work, post degree preferred

Title prefix is dependent on relevant work experience.
