Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:
Master's degree in library science (or its equivalent) from an ALA-accredited school required.
JD from an ABA-accredited law school required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Required Qualifications:
-Knowledge of legal sources and strong legal research skills
-Enthusiasm for and experience working with digital repository content
-Experience effectively managing complex projects
-Creativity and experience proposing new or improved projects and workflows
-Strong organization, analytical thinking skills, and attention to detail
-Excellent written and interpersonal skills
-Instructional or presentation experience
-Ability to contribute to and lead a team and work independently with an understanding of when to seek assistance
-Willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications:
-One or more years of professional library reference experience
-Academic law library experience
-Knowledge of copyright and authors' rights
-Experience successfully promoting content and services
-Experience working with Dublin Core and other metadata standards
-Experience supervising student workers or other employees
-Experience serving as a liaison to law faculty, staff, and/or student groups

Position Summary:
The Scholarly Communications and Reference Librarian (SCRL) is responsible for curating and managing the University of Wisconsin Law School Digital Repository, supporting faculty research, and liaising with student journals. The SCRL instructs law students and faculty on best scholarly practices and creates educational resources focused on publishing and other library resources. The SCRL shares reference and instructional duties with the other reference librarians and serves as a selector on the Collection Development Committee. The SCRL supervises repository student workers and reports to the Assistant Director of Public Services.
