Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Surplus With A Purpose (SWAP) Program Specialist Supervisor, this position is responsible for sales and marketing functions for SWAP's store and online auction. The surplus property management program for UW-Madison affects 16,000 employees and generates approximately $1.4M in surplus property-related revenues annually. The program provides a critical service to UW-Madison and UW-System campuses. This position will assist the Program Specialist Supervisor with supporting the University's environmental stewardship by repurposing the University's useful surplus property through inter-departmental redistribution, public sales and donations. Specific responsibilities of this position include use of the Great Plains Point-of-Sale system to process customer purchases, preparing surplus property for listing on the SWAP Online Auction, and assisting the Program Supervisor with managing the SWAP website and social media sites. The majority of the position will work within the warehouse portion of MDS/SWAP assisting customers, performing various inventory control functions and moving furniture, equipment and supplies throughout the each day. This position is the primary cashier on public sale days.

Requirements:

This position works in the warehouse section of SWAP, assisting customers, moving large pieces of furniture as well as moving/lifting heavy objects. This position works one 4-hour shift, one Saturday per month

Schedule Comment:

Standard business hours. Monday through Friday.
