Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required; major or concentration in risk management, business, environmental health and safety, law or other related field. Master's degree and/or Certification in field such as ARM (Associate in Risk Management) certification or similar educational designation preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

The position requires skill, expertise and professional knowledge in areas of risk management. Management skills, experience, training and education in related area. 4 plus years of experience in Risk Management, Worker's Compensation, Insurance, Environmental Health and Safety, or business related field.
Strong assessment, evaluation and analytical skills. Understanding of worker's compensation claims management administration.
Knowledge and practice in risk assessment and practical application of effective risk management strategies.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate work, manage multiple tasks, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
Ability to exercise strong judgment and work independently on complex subjects.
Ability and willingness to work in a self-directed and collaborative team environment.
Critical thinking skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of potential solutions, conclusions and approaches to areas of concern.
Well established office management skills.

Position Summary:

This position is a member of the office's management team and provides specialized skills in a variety of risk management areas. The position manages numerous aspects of the office's programs and services. The responsibilities include risk management services, worker's compensation administration, management of return to work/light duty program, management of claims and investigation, office management, training and development, supervision, project management, and development and implementation of policy and procedure. This is a complex, high-level administrative position. The positon reports to the Director of Risk Management.
