Degree and area of specialization:

DVM degree or equivalent from an AVMA accredited School of Veterinary Medicine

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Formal training and/or experience in laboratory animal medicine and strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. The desirable candidate will have experience with operations and health management of large rodent facilities and familiarity with nonhuman primates.

License or Certificate:

Must be able to be licensed in at least one state. ACLAM board eligibility or certification is desirable. Must be able to obtain Select Agent Clearance.

Position Summary:

The Research Animal Resources Center (RARC) is based in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education (OVCRGE) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. RARC is multidisciplinary in scope and provides veterinary and operational support to the UW-Madison animal care and use program. The animal program involves all aspects of animal use for research, teaching, and outreach. RARC has strong research, administrative, and teaching links to the UW-Madison College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), College and Letters and Science (L&S), School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM), and other OVCRGE Centers.

This Research Veterinarian position is a full-time, non-tenure track position located in the Veterinary Unit of RARC and will ultimately report to the Chief Campus Veterinarian. The overall responsibility of this position is to be part of a dedicated team of veterianary professionals delivering quality veterinary care and research guidance.
