Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Required Qualifications

-The competitive candidate will have at least 6 months to 2 years proven understanding of electronic health record (EHR) systems, data, and organization;
-Knowledge of SQL and database concepts; and
-Demonstrable programming skills in languages such as Java, Python, or Perl.

Preferred Qualifications

-2 or more years of relevant experience.
-Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or related field.
-Experience with health care systems and data (e.g. HL7 messaging and DICOM).
-Knowledge of HIPAA and other regulations governing EHR data.
-Familiarity with EHR and/or Epic/Clarity specific data structures.
-Experience with report design, data querying, data mining, or ontologies (especially in a clinical context).

Position Summary:
Working in the Biomedical Informatics Core (BMI) of the Institute of Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR) and the UW-Health's ? Enterprise Analytics (EA), the successful candidate will serve as the interface between faculty conducting clinical research projects and the rapidly evolving electronic health data warehouse in EA. EA is primarily dedicated to developing data warehousing capabilities for the UW-Health system, with a main purpose being to advance cutting edge clinical research based on available information in the clinical record. A key activity of this position will be to work with both clinical researchers and other BMI staff to help to develop queries that translate research objectives into datasets retrieved from the data available in the data warehouse.
