Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position primarily provides laboratory supply and equipment order placement services in support of research. The volume of purchasing activity this position handles is estimated to be near 10 million dollars annually. This position also provides back up support to the departments travel procurement card manager and reimbursement approver. This position works closely with other members of the Biochemistry business office staff, including the Associate Procurement Specialist, Reconcilers, Department Management, Professors, Researchers, and the department Chair. They provide services for a diverse range of professionals, from management and students to hundreds of national vendors. The Department of Biochemistry's annual expense budget is approximately $30 million. The department employs approximately 600, including faculty, academic and classified staff, graduate students, and undergraduates. The department budget is derived from or allocated into approximately 300 accounts and sub-accounts. Funding sources include federal grants, state grants, gifts and trusts, chargeback funds, foundation endowments, and cash funds.
