Position Summary:
This position is a shared position dedicated to supporting two separate, and each genuinely unique, fellowship programs in the School of Education: (1) The Interdisciplinary Training Program (ITP) is a pre-doctoral training program funded by the US Department of Education that trains students pursuing doctorates in economics, educational leadership and policy analysis, educational policy studies, political science, psychology, social work and sociology. ITP provides students with a grounding in experimental and quasi-experimental methods of causal inference as well as translational research. (2) The Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) Fellows program is a fellowship program designed to help successfully recruit and support high quality graduate students who will contribute to the diversity of the UW-Madison School of Education and the professoriate. In addition to providing student funding, the WCER Fellows program aims to (a) help promote a sense of belonging and support among fellows and (b) provide extensive professional development opportunities.
The right person for this position will be passionate about developing a culture of collaboration and support in both programs, engaging fellows with academic opportunities, and encouraging them to develop their research experiences. In addition to support and mentorship for ITP and WCER Fellows this position will also
- help facilitate the ITP brown bag series, which brings in scholars of education from around the country
- plan and execute a multi-day conference at the end of the ITP grant period
- play a central role in developing WCER Fellows program outreach and communication efforts, including designing written and digital materials to help increase the profile of the program
- Aid with the planning, administration and maintenance of the WCER Fellow Summer Preparatory Program and academic year pro-seminar
