Position Summary:
The Department of Engineering Physics in the College of Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks candidates for a tenure-track or tenure-level faculty position in Experimental Plasma Physics for Fusion Energy Applications. Candidates excelling in experimental high-temperature plasma physics, plasma-material interaction, plasma diagnostics, plasma control, and fusion magnetic confinement systems are sought. Some particular application areas of interest include toroidal plasma magnetic confinement devices, the physics of the plasma core and/or edge, and plasma surface interactions. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching in at least one of these fields is desired. Candidates having significant experience with university-scale magnetic confinement experiments or large-scale national and international fusion energy research facilities will receive priority. Appropriate knowledge and involvement in state of the art analysis and interpretative modeling tools are considered assets for the position.

The new hire will have a tenure home in the Department of Engineering Physics and will join a faculty group working on experimental and theoretical high-temperature plasma physics in the Department. The new hire will also benefit from and contribute to the highly collaborative plasma research environment on the UW-Madison campus.
