Degree and area of specialization:  PhD in Industrial Engineering or related field required.

Minimum number of years and type of work experience:

Applicants should have an outstanding academic record, exceptional potential for creative research, and a commitment to both undergraduate and graduate education in industrial and systems engineering.  For a tenured position, candidates should have the following: at least five years in a university faculty position, or government or industrial research position; demonstrated track record of national leadership in industrial engineering or a related field, with academic accomplishments as a scholar and teacher that meet the standards for a tenured appointment in Industrial and Systems Engineering.

Principal duties:

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position beginning August 2015 or later to complement our existing programs in health systems engineering, manufacturing and production systems, decision sciences/operations research, and human factors. Applicants are expected to create and maintain a strong program of research, provide classroom and individual teaching for undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students, and contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the department.  University and professional service will be expected as appropriate.

At this time, we are specifically interested in faculty candidates in health systems engineering.  Areas of interest include but are not limited to: design and measurement of health systems for high quality, patient-centered, and cost-effective care delivery; modeling, analysis and improvement of the management of transitions in the patient experience; and design of healthcare work systems and information technology.

Interdisciplinary scholars whose research involves health systems engineering in addition to other areas of industrial engineering are also encouraged to apply.  Experience in collaborative work involving healthcare professionals/organizations is preferred. Applicants are expected to create and maintain a strong program of research, provide classroom and individual teaching for undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students, and contribute to the intellectual and academic life of the department.
