Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:
DVM (or equivalent) required; Certification in the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners
(canine and feline practice or feline practice) preferred, but not required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of three years clinical primary care experience or internship training preferred. Internship
and residency training preferred, but not required. Aptitude and/or experience in clinical instruction of
DVM students and interns are expected. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

License or Certificate:
Eligibility to obtain licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Wisconsin.

Position Summary:
The Department of Medical Sciences of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Primary Care Clinical Instructor. This is a 70-100% 12-month appointment within the Small Animal Primary Care Section of the UW Veterinary Care clinical service within the UW Veterinary Care Hospital on the UW-Madison campus.

Approximately 25,000 small animal patients are evaluated at UW Veterinary Care annually. The current Primary Care case load is approximately 4,000 cases per year.

Additional Information:
Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist within the School of Veterinary Medicine and
the UW-Madison campus. The School of Medicine & Public Health, the College of Agriculture & Life
Sciences and the Biotechnology Center are located within a short distance of the School of
Veterinary Medicine on the UW-Madison campus. A close relationship also exists with the Wisconsin
State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory which is located within the same footprint on-campus as the
School of Veterinary Medicine. UW-Madison considers the School of Veterinary Medicine to be a
major factor in its overall success as a top five university in terms of awarded federal funding. The
school is also a major factor in Madison's emergence as a hub of commercial biotechnology, including
regenerative medicine technologies.
