Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field required; Masters or PhD level preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-More than 4 years post degree experience working in a plant transformation or tissue culture setting.
-Working knowledge of LIMS database systems and project/lab management is a plus.
-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, experience in experimental design and data analysis, and people management are all preferred proficiencies.

Position Summary:
The Wisconsin Crop Innovation Center (WCIC) building is a 110,000 square foot agricultural biotechnology/greenhouse complex. The building houses the state-of-the-art transgenic plant laboratory which will support unprecedented scientific advancement opportunities and improve plants for humans, livestock, and the environment. The Center has a high throughput transformation pipeline capable of generating transgenic and edited plants and needs an Associate Researcher/Transformation Production Lead to provide technical direction, to manage a variety of Center functions, and to implement novel research techniques. This person will be responsible for planning, supervising, and carrying out various components of research projects. This position will direct a team of three highly skilled research specialists and interact with internal and external clients doing business with the Center. Duties may include maintaining inventory of supplies, media production, tissue culture, bacterial and plant transformation, ordering new equipment, record-keeping, and supervision/development of team members. This position will report to the Associate Director and will also be responsible for maintaining and improving the transformation/editing pipeline forecasting and scheduling LIMS database.
