Degree and area of specialization:

Bachelor's degree required; preferably in physics, biology, or neuroscience. Degree in other related fields would be considered.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Two years laboratory research experience is preferred. Familiarity with chemical, neuroscientific, and general lab techniques desired. Good communication and organizational, leadership are required.

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience with the Windows operating system and Microsoft Excel. Experience with computer programming and Linux is desired but not required.

Position Summary:

The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of only 15 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical bio-manufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.

We seek a highly motivated person to manage the Waisman Center Brain Imaging Core small animal positron emission tomography facility. The mircoPET Focus 220 and P4 are state of the art high resolution scanners for in-vivo radiotracer imaging. The person in this position will conduct research and collaborate with other researchers to assist them in carrying out a variety of studies primarily directed towards neuroscientific questions.
