Bachelor's degree required in science, education, or relatedfield.

- At least two years of relevant professional experience required in the field of science education or outreach.
- Experience working with informal education environments and K-12 schools.
- Experience making complex scientific information accessible to a wide variety of audiences
- Experience with K-12 education environments
- Experience developing, writing, and evaluating curriculum, lesson plans, and activity guides
- Experience with national and state K-12 teaching standards
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience speaking publicly
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently

The ideal candidate will also have:
- Experience working with scientists and engineers at a range of levels, from undergraduate to faculty
- Experience coordinating and leading professional development opportunities for K-12 teachers
- Experience supervising personnel
- Experience maintaining websites

Position Summary:

This position is with the Interdisciplinary Education Group (IEG) of the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) on Structured Interfaces. The IEG uses examples of nanotechnology and advanced materials engineering to share the excitement and potential of cutting- edge research with K-12 and public audiences while also teaching fundamental science and engineering concepts. This work is conducted in collaboration with researchers, industry, museums, teachers, the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, other MRSECs, and academic institutions. This position will be supervised by the Director of Education and Outreach and will work closely with the co-leaders of the IEG to accomplish the education/outreach goals of the center.
