Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Waste & Recycling Building and Grounds Supervisor, this position operates various types of equipment in the collection of refuse and recycling, including end-loaders, skid steers, trash scooters, large rubbish trucks, and 1-ton recycling trucks. This position identifies, collects and transfers refuse and recyclable materials. Assist in loading of refuse, must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions. Follow environmental and governmental laws on what can and cannot be land-filled. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with airbrake endorsement is required for this position to operate a large truck when the primary driver is not there or when the primary driver needs a break.

Driver's License

Additional Requirements:
Must possess, or have the ability to obtain within six months or prior to passing probation, a Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement, maintain a motor vehicle record that meets UW Risk Management standards, and maintain ability to drive State of Wisconsin owned vehicles.

Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) will require Post-Offer Pre-Employment screenings on all selected candidates.

This position may occasionally be asked to work hours in excess of the normal work shift, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
