Position Summary:

The Wisconsin Crop Innovation Center (WCIC) building is a 110,000 square foot agricultural biotechnology/greenhouse complex. The building houses a state-of-the-art transgenic plant laboratory which supports unprecedented scientific advancement opportunities and improves plants for humans, livestock, and the environment. The center has a high throughput transformation pipeline capable of generating transgenic and edited plants and needs a Research Program Manager to initiate a molecular services team to provide both internal and external customers with plant transformation and editing vectors, copy number and expression analysis, and other key molecular services. Duties may include maintaining inventory of supplies, ordering new equipment, record- keeping, and supervision of a small staff and student hourly workers. The position will also be responsible for program budgets, coordination of program activities, maintenance/PMs/certifications of lab equipment, and safety related activities. This position will report to the Associate Director and will be expected to interact closely with both the Production and R&D program leads at the Center.

Additional Information:

Experience with vector design software such as Geneious or SnapGene is a plus. Experience with qPCR, digital drop PCR, high throughput cloning (Gibson, Fusion, Gateway, GoldenGate, etc.) is also preferred. Knowledge of plant gene expression elements such as promoters, introns, UTRs, and interactions of these elements within plants is desired.
