Job Summary:
The Medical Program Assistant, Senior (MPA) position will independently provide administrative staff support to the General Internal Medicine (GIM) Division of the Department of Medicine (DOM), University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH). The GIM Division is composed of approximately 85 faculty, as well as several Fellows, research staff and 4 administrative support staff. The Division is primarily comprised of physicians who practice in 10 clinics in the Madison area, in addition to performing research and teaching responsibilities.

The Medical Program Assistant Associate performs advanced and confidential administrative duties to meet faculty, Division and Departmental goals, and assists Division faculty and staff in the successful performance of their clinical, teaching and research responsibilities and other activities. This is a multi-faceted position which includes serving as the primary support for the GIM Division Head, as well as coordinating the faculty recruitment, onboarding and promotion activities in the division.

Work is performed under General supervision from the Program Assistant (PA) Supervisor. The PA Supervisor and Division Head provide balance and direction to work flow; however, the incumbent is often expected to operate with a high degree of independence and exhibit solid decision-making skills in performing these duties.

A high level of professionalism is required of all UW Department of Medicine faculty and staff. The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate honesty, integrity, accountability and a commitment to altruism in all work interactions and responsibilities.

Schedule Comment:
80-100% position; FTE and work schedule TBD at time of hire based on candidate preference and division needs.

Typical office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Incumbent must be available to start at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesdays to attend/support GIM Conference and Division meetings.

Occasional morning and evening hours outside of standard work schedule may be required to support faculty recruitment efforts.
