Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:
BA or BS specializing in communications, English, marketing, journalism, or related field is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
- Two years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in:
o Website design
o Web advertising
o Blog journalism
o Social media communications
o Graphic design
Desired Qualifications:
- Corporate work experience a plus
- Background working in higher education
- Knowledge about GIS and/or cartography
- Experience using Google AdWords and Google Analytics
- Experience maintaining and updating WordPress websites
- Experience with Salesforce or willingness to learn it
- Willingness to telecommute or share an office if on campus
- A go-getter! Task-oriented person who is dependable, takes initiative, and doesn?t require constant supervision to get work done in a timely fashion.

Position Summary:
GIS Professional Programs (GISPP) is an innovative, revenue-generating unit of the Department of Geography. We currently have four, stackable, professional programs in GIS and Cartography with approximately 160 active students.
We're looking for an innovative, experienced, and high-energy Communications Specialist (50% position) to help us develop our brand, online presence, recruit new students, and build lifelong connections with our alumni and current students. This position reports to and is supervised by the GISPP Director and works with the GISPP Coordinator.
