Job Summary:

Under general supervision of the Academic Department Supervisor, the University Services Program Associate (USPA) functions as the primary contact person for the Department and provides critical administrative oversight for the Chair and Academic Department Supervisor. This position is detail-oriented and requires excellent administrative, organizational, oral and written skills as well as excellent computer knowledge. The position also requires considerable independent initiative and judgment and a high level of administrative problem-solving and analytic ability.

The position coordinates complex activities, establishes and maintains communication links with external constituencies, assists visitors, students, staff, and faculty in support of the mission of the department. The USPA: (1) Serves as the primary contact for faculty, staff, and students as well as for contacts from industry, government, and professional organizations, contacts from other university departments and universities, replying to all inquiries and directing individuals to proper sources for answers to their questions, (2) Provides administrative support to the Chair and the Academic Department Manager, (3) Assists with the processing of personnel and financial transactions for the Department and (4) Provides administrative support and coordination of faculty recruitment.

The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) in the College of Engineering (CoE) enrolls approximately 225 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students from all over the world. The Department has 20 primary faculty, 4 academic staff, and 4 university staff, with state expenditures exceeding $2.5 million annually, and research expenditures of about $20 million annually for all its labs.
