Degree and area of specialization:
A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of one (1) year experience in an academic research setting is preferred (undergraduate research experience is acceptable). This position requires knowledge of general laboratory equipment and materials. Qualified candidates will have experience performing laboratory tasks such as nucleic acid (DNA/RNA) purification, molecular cloning, real-time PCR, mammalian cell culture, and recombinant protein expression and purification.

A strong work ethic is essential, as are excellent organizational, record keeping, and multi-tasking skills. The preferred candidate will be self-motivated, with excellent problem solving skills and strong attention to detail. Additionally, this position requires well-developed interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently within a team environment.

Position Summary:
The Wisconsin Institute for Discovery (WID) is an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. By bringing together people from diverse backgrounds and a broad of array of disciplines, we seek to foster unlikely collaborations, catalyze new ways of thinking, and generate unexpected scientific discoveries.

This position is located in the Lewis Lab, which investigates biochemical mechanisms involved in the regulation of chromatin structure and gene expression during tumorigenesis and mammalian development. The Technician plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the lab by providing technical/research support to the principal investigator, graduate research assistants, and undergraduate students.
