Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:

BA/BS in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or related field is preferred. Understanding of chemistry and microbiology methods is required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Experience in a research laboratory is required. In particular, competency in the following areas is expected:

-Experience with general laboratory methods, including preparation of buffers and sterile technique.
-Experience in bacterial cell culture and basic microbiological assays.
-Strong organizational skills, including record keeping and time management.
-Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with lab members.
-Facility with computer programs essential for record keeping.

The successful candidate will have skills in basic chemistry and microbiology. The successful candidate will also be highly motivated and independent with keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

Preference will be given to candidates having additional experience with computers (e.g. LabArchives, Filemaker Pro) and recombinant DNA.

The Kimble and Wickens laboratories seek a Research Specialist to serve as a Laboratory Assistant. The job will center on preparing reagents for the lab, ordering and restocking supplies, and lab organization.
