IDENTITY AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT TEAM LEAD


Position Summary:
The Identity and Access Management (IAM) Team acquires, develops, and maintains identity and access systems, products, and tools for the entire University of Wisconsin (UW) System and, more specifically, UW-Madison. This includes designing, planning, developing, operating, and constantly improving our use and implementation of technology.

The Identity and Access Management Technical Team Lead will help lead the team of technologists focused on operating enterprise identity and access management services and our interoperability initiatives. Accountability will include oversight of team projects and ensuring high quality services. The IAM Technical Team Lead will also work directly with the technology which includes an integrated environment of vended and custom-built solutions encompassing directory services, identity administration, access management, group management, user authentication and authorization, user account provisioning/deprovisioning, and role definition.

This position will oversee the team in establishing an operational framework (e.g. DevOps) across our project portfolio to further cultivate a culture of continuous improvement. Accounting for modern development practices, the Technical Team Lead will establish an advisory presence across technical domains and facilitate proactive decision making and planning.

Additionally, this position will be accountable for building partnership and sharing our teams work on high-profile campus projects by translating complex technical knowledge to any audience. These duties will require strong analysis, facilitation, coordination, and service leadership skills working with others within the group, DoIT, and across campus.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Required Qualifications:
* Experience managing projects including meeting deadlines and working with partners
* Strong presentation skills and ability to represent the group when working with our partners.
* The ability to translate complex technical work into information that could be consumed by any partner.
* Minimum of four years of experience managing technical systems or technical projects. (A minimum of 7 years of experience to be considered for the Senior level.)
* Minimum of two years of experience in system administration and/or security.
* Minimum of two years of experience with at least one contemporary programming language (Java, Python, Ruby, .NET, etc).

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience navigating a large, complex organization.
* Experience using development / scripting to facilitate data migration between systems, including interacting with relational data repositories.
* Knowledge of Identity Management domain such as installation, maintenance and upgrade of IAM systems and services in a complex environment.
* Familiarity and experience with modern iterative practices (e.g. DevOps, Agile).
* Preferred familiarity with cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
* Familiarity with modern technologies used in IAM (e.g. OAuth2, consent-based attribute release, RESTful web services, etc.).
