Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) Associate Director of Business Services, this position performs a wide variety of HR activities for the Department.

The department incorporates many types of activities in three major areas: patient care, education and research. DFMCH is one of the largest and most complex clinical departments in the School of Medicine and Public Health. The DFMCH currently operates in Eau Claire and Augusta and is responsible for the well-being of faculty at multiple community clinic and regional clinic sites, Urgent Care Centers, and rural training locations. The DFMCH includes oversight of approximately 542 appointments (173 faculty, 84 academic staff, 100 residents and fellows, 91 university and TE staff, 27 student hourly, 47 honorary associates/fellows, and 20 affiliate/joint faculty); 325 officially appointed volunteer clinic faculty and Physician Assistant program preceptors; non-appointed volunteers; and 466 appointed UW Health clinical staff who have close working relationships with staff at DFMCH clinics.

This position is responsible for ensuring that their work is consistent with SMPH, University, State and Federal policies, codes, and statutes. This position requires a person with excellent administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills who can assist with the planning and implementation of Human Resources office projects. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio and other computer-based resources is essential. Teamwork with other staff, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential in this position. The successful incumbent must have the capacity to manage multiple concurrent priorities. The incumbent will be required to exercise some independent decision making related to application of human resources policies, procedures and guidelines for each type of employee group.

The incumbent is expected to: Effectively apply knowledge of Human Resources policies and/or procedures to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. Demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, coworkers, and all customers. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion. Present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required.

This position represents the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health Human Resource Department to the public as well as to the faculty and personnel on campus.
