HR OPERATIONS COORDINATOR


Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the HR Operations Manager, function as a Human Resources Operations Coordinator in the School of Medicine and Public Health. This position shares responsibility for nearly 1525 faculty, 1900 academic staff and 700 university staff employees and has specific responsibilities related to a subset of departments and programs within the School. This position is responsible for ensuring that their work is consistent with SMPH, University, State and Federal policies, codes, and statutes. This position requires a person with excellent administrative, organizational and interpersonal skills who can assist with the planning and implementation of Human Resources office projects. Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio and other computer-based resources is essential. Teamwork with other staff, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills is essential in this position. The successful incumbent must have the capacity to manage multiple concurrent priorities. The incumbent will be required to exercise some independent decision making related to application of human resources policies, procedures and guidelines for each type of employee group.

The incumbent is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, coworkers, and all customers. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion. Use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. Present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required. Effectively share knowledge and skills obtained through professional development.

Requirements:
Typing
- Minimum of two years administrative experience required.
- HR experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and apply human resources principles and practices such as recruitment and selection laws and rules and procedures such as the University of Wisconsin Madison policies and procedures.
- Ability to learn and apply UW-Madison Human Resources applications CHRIS, PVL, TREMS, JEMS, HRS).
- Proficiency in use of database, spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to plan, establish priorities and organize varied and complex tasks required.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills required.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
