Degree and area of specialization:
Master's degree in public health or related biological and/or environmental science field preferred, bachelor's required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of two years of experience working in the field of epidemiology, environmental health or chronic disease prevention and control is required. Seven years of related experience is required for senior title. It is required that the incumbent be able to work independently; coordinate and maintain new and ongoing partnerships with public and private entities; have ability to create and manage large databases; and be able to apply scientific literature for public health purposes. Experience with preparation of grant-required and scientific reports is strongly preferred.. Comfort and skill in oral presentations and federal grant management experience are preferred.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Environmental Epidemiology Section Chief at the Department of Health Services, the incumbent provides outreach and program management leadership for two funded projects related to Great Lakes sport fish consumption: the ATSDR-funded fish contaminant biomonitoring study of anglers and Burmese immigrants, and the EPA Point-in-Time survey of Great Lakes fish consumption advisory awareness. This position coordinates work assignments in the performance of the Section's assigned functions and responsibilities and works with professional and support staff consisting of epidemiologists, public health educators, program assistants, and professionals at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

The incumbent provides outreach strategy development and implementation and participant recruitment for two distinct populations for the ATSDR-funded fish contaminants biomonitoring study, including 300- 400 licensed anglers and 50-100 Burmese immigrants. The incumbent provides project oversight and leads efforts to obtain IRB and federal OMB approval of all survey instruments and ensure appropriate translation of immigrant survey into relevant languages (Burmese and Karen) that both provides appropriate information to participants and maintains fidelity of survey instrument and consistency of results with other survey findings.

Additional Information:
The incumbent will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, technical expertise in standard Microsoft Office applications and web content management software (such as Front Page and Drupal). Experience with statistical analysis software such as SAS is preferred, as is experience with GIS software applications, and internet navigation skills particularly for resources related to environmental and population health.
