GRANTS AND DATA ANALYST


Position Summary:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is responsible for administration of the extramural research grants and contracts. RSP currently manages an open portfolio of over $4 Billion with annual awards over $1 Billion. This grants data analyst position will assist in the reporting of the University's sponsored programs to campus constituents (including Principal Investigators, College/School dean's offices, University leaders, RSP leadership, etc.); RSP staff managing projects, and extramural sponsors.

This Grants and Data Analyst position will assist in the management of the University's sponsored programs by developing grants data analytics tools to monitor sponsored programs for compliance with sponsor terms and conditions research administration. This position is on the Electronic Research Administration (eRA) team and helps support RSP staff, department administrators, researchers and faculty across campus.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in one of the following areas: IT, IT Systems Analysis, Accounting, or Business.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
The successful applicant will demonstrate an independent work initiative, excellent communication and customer service skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, diplomacy and a professional demeanor.

Well-qualified candidates will have the following preferred work experience:
1. Significant experience and education in IT systems, business process and systems analysis, accounting, finance, or equivalent. (e.g., 4-year degree).
2. Significant experience and knowledge of SQL, reporting tools such as Tableau/Hyperion/OBIEE, or other analytics programs.
3. Data analysis and reporting skills.
4. Familiar with system development and implementation life cycle and methodologies.
5. Experience in developing functional requirement documents and/or system design documents.
6. Experience in presenting/training in software systems.
7. Above average knowledge of and skills in use of Office programs such as Excel and Word (or similar software applications).
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to act as a project lead.
10. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
11. Strong customer service skills.
12. Must be a team player.

Highly Desired: 3-5 years' experience working in a sponsored programs office, sponsored programs accounting. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Grants and related functionality.
