Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications

Degree and area of specialization:

PhD in a biological sciences field required.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

--Three (3) years of laboratory experience preferred.
--Candidate must have demonstrated proficiency in a molecular biology laboratory setting along with strong molecular biology skills that include RNA expression assay development and optimization, next generation RNA library preparations, RNA/DNA isolation and quality analysis and assay troubleshooting
--Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal and computer skills required.
--Experience with Laboratory Information Management (LIM) systems including programming is preferred.
--Candidate will be expected to be a self-motivated individual who is able to work independently, professionally and competently interact with facility customers as well as be able to perform trouble shooting as needed.
--The ideal candidate would have experience developing protocols and enthusiasm to explore new/developing technologies.

Position Summary:

The UWBC Gene Expression Center (GEC) is a fee-for-service facility in the Biotechnology Center that offers RNA based application services, primarily targeted for next generation sequencing, to a wide and diverse research community. Customer support and cutting-edge RNA based services are the primary goals of the UWBC KEC.
