Job Summary:
The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 career staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing provides an inclusive and safe working environment that promotes engagement, empowerment, and professional development. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,400 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 3,000 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide conference group and youth camp housing throughout the summer months.

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

Dining and Culinary Services has locations in six buildings throughout campus including Markets, Convenience Stores, Catering, and Coffeehouses. Dining and Culinary Services provides affordable and innovative dining options to residents, guests, and staff.

Under the general supervision of the Unit Chef, this is a highly responsible position that supervises on and off-site catering events as well as assists in the production and oversight of foods produced for the dining unit and cold food production.

This position provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.

Requirements:
Driver's License
English Proficiency Required - This position requires one or more of the following abilities: ability to speak, read, write, and/or understand verbal instructions in English

Additional Requirements:
Long periods of standing and walking and frequent lifting of objects weighing approximately 50 pounds; frequent pulling and pushing of carts weighing approximately 200 pounds. Must have dexterity to handle product, kitchen tools and equipment.

A driver's license which meets the UW Risk Management Standards required.

At least three years of previous experience working in an institutional food service setting, large-scale production kitchen, or catering/event setup preferred.

At least three years of food production experience preferred.

ServSafe Certification and/or State of Wisconsin Restaurant Manager Certification preferred.

Wisconsin Alcohol Operator License preferred.

Leadership or training experience preferred.

Schedule Comment:
Multiple full-time shifts available, both 1st and 2nd shift. Schedule will be determined upon hire.

Some change of shift hours may be necessary based on operational needs.

There is an additional $0.80/hour for night premium and $0.80/hour for weekend premium.
